It is amazing to see how connected and united the Jewish community can be when our ideologies and voices are at stake. Avinoam and I, and the rest of the Bruins United slate are prepared to make sure that UCLA will maintains its allegiance to Israel and the Jewish community. We are here to make sure that the Jewish voice is represented at every governing body at UCLA and at other relevant entities. Last week, we met our opponents. I am officially running against Lana Habib El-Farra (the current USAC External fortoInternal Vice of Muslim Student Association and as a The Daily Californian Vice Mail President) - Fwd: Letter Circulate for President. As a member https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ui=2&ik=13d1a521f4&view... staunch advocate for Students for Justice of Palestine, Lana has displayed a record of silencing the Jewish voice on council this past year. Not only did she vote in favor for the University of California to support Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions against Israel at the University of California, Student Association, she recently proposed to pass BDS at UCLA. I am proud to say we stood alongside some of the most active and vocal Jewish leaders and allies of the Jewish community last Tuesday night to make sure BDS did not pass. It didn’t. However, it is the Bruins United majority that did not allow BDS or any anti-Israel, anti-Semitic resolution to stand a chance at council. 3 of 6 7/3/14 4:00 PM This safety net is at risk. We are entering an election cycle where our majority can be lost, and even worse, having Lana and her slate sit at the council table. We are worried for UCLA and the entire Jewish community. We need to mobilize the students of UCLA to stand up against the oppression we have experienced under her leadership. This election is much more than just the title – it’s personal. Last year I had the pleasure of working on Raquel Saxe’s campaign for EVP against Lana. Raquel was a returning councilmember running for re-election. Although we did not succeed last year, we will do EVERYTHING our my power to make sure this gross mistake does not happen again. We are excited to represent the Jewish community and the ideologies of Israel and further strengthen our unwavering support. We urge you to please notify anyone who is willing to support our cause. And once again, we thank you for your generous donation and your support!
