The primary focus of these ESST teams is assisting in FDLE investigations and aiding other local, state and federal agencies throughout Florida. One of the main tools used by these teams is software and corresponding hardware that is specifically designed to utilize cellular communications networks to aid in locating violent fugitives as well as other suspects engaged in criminal activity. FDLE’s ESST teams presently utilize the Harpoon 2100, Harpoon CONUS, Harpoon iDEN and the StingRay II for these purposes. It is essential that FDLEcontinue maintenance on these items to ensure it is able to utilize its equipment to its utmost capabilities. This hardware is proprietary to the Harris Corporation and can be maintained and upgraded on by the Harris Corporation. No other vendor is authorized to produce or distribute this hardware or provide support services. The WPG SR-II-U-SW maintenance agreements are only available from Harris WPG.
