AmeriGas statement, sent via email March 6, 2014 AmeriGas placed a 3,000 gallon tank in the community in reliance on assurances by the developer that all proper permitting for such tank was in place. Upon notification from the local building department and Fire Marshal that the permitting was not in place for the 3,000 gallon tank, we discontinued deliveries. Our plan, which has been approved by the Fire Marshal, is to let the current tank run empty so that AmeriGas can disconnect and safely transport it out of the community under DOT regulations. We will then install a new tank of the properly permitted size. We feel it is important to note that safety is our highest priority, and at all times AmeriGas’s installation complied with all applicable safety standards under the NFPA. At no point in time was anyone in the community placed in any danger. AmeriGas apologizes for any inconvenience or concern that this confusion over permitting has caused the residents of the community. Nothing means more to us than our customers and the community at large, and we look forward to continuing to provide safe and reliable service to the community going forward.
