Slide 2 Who Requires a Second Dose and When? saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 • Two doses of the vaccines currently being administered in Saskatchewan (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) are required for maximum protection • Once you are eligible, you are always eligible. • Following National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) recommendations, 2nd doses should be delivered within 16-weeks of receiving the 1st. • Eligibility for 2nd dose starts approx. 13 weeks after the date patients received their 1 st dose so that doses can be administered prior to the 16 week interval; will aim to close this gap as more supplies are received. • Everyone will receive an offer of second doses by July 31. • The only exception to this will be the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccines. • Single shot vaccine • Not yet being administered in Saskatchewan. Expected in the coming weeks. Slide 3 What will the Notification look like? saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 Slide 4 Second doses will be offered in the same sequencing as first doses. Eligibility will be based on age or date of first dose. For example: As of May 17, anyone 85 years of age and older, OR anyone who received their first dose before February 15, 2021 is now eligible to book their second dose. *First doses will continue to be offered at the same time as second doses. How will I know if I am eligible for a 2nd dose? There are four ways you can check: 1) Refer to the immunization card you were given at your first appointment; 2) Check ‘immunization history’ on your MySaskHealthRecord account; 3) Pharmacies are able to look up the brand and date of a patient’s first vaccine dose; or 4) If you’re unsure or need help, call 1- 833-SASKVAX (727-5829) for assistance. Slide 5 Mass notifications about new clients eligible for 2nd doses will be included in Government & SHA news releases/Public Services Advisories Letters will be issued to: Organ transplant patients Oncology patients Patients on Rituximab Where will I get my 2nd dose & what brand will I receive? saskatchewan.ca/COVID19 Current guidelines recommend that your 2nd dose should be of the same brand as your 1st dose. Pharmacies, the SHA online booking system and the SaskVax phone line will all support patients with getting the same vaccine brand. Mass clinics, mobile clinics, drive-thrus and pharmacies will all have a role in providing second doses and will clearly advertise the brand of vaccine they have available.
