The California Department of Public Health, Environmental Management Branch (CDPH-EMB) issues Radiological Unrestricted Release Recommendation(s) (RURRs) for radiologicaliy impacted sites that have undergone remediation based on guidelines of- California Code of Regulations Title17, Section 30256. CDPH-EMB completes a review of the documentation submitted by the Department of Navy" (DON) associated with the identification of radionuclide(s) of concern, their location and remediation. CDPH-EMB requires that radiological ?nal status surveys are conducted to demonstrate compliance with agreed upon release criteria. These surveys must be technically defensible and contain an adequate amount of data of sufficient quality that CDPH-EMB may make an appropriate recommendation. DON has self-identi?ed significant challenges to radiological final status surveys at some of the sites of the former Hunters Point Shipyard (HPS) located in San Francisco, California. These radiological final status surveys were relied upon by CDPH-EMB in order to concur with the for these sites. The parcels and buildings affected by uncovering of new data are listed below.
