incorporates road closures and venue impacts • Encourages alternate modes such as public transit and carpooling, and incorporates real-time advice about getting to and from events • In mobile and web applications • Available at - 2015gamestripplanner.ca 35 Accessible Services • Working with accessibility experts, some features of our planning include: • Barrier free walking routes to and from events • Online booking service for accessible parking spaces (available at every competition venue) • Accessible park and ride shuttles • Call-One Call Centre Service • Accessible signs, travel advice and other information including a Games Accessibility Guide 36 Signs • Clear signs to help spectators find their way to events • Signs incorporate 3 letter venue codes and sport symbols so they are easily understandable • Consistent look and feel across the entire Games footprint • Signs for highways, municipal roads, public transit, cyclists and pedestrians for a seamless travel experience no matter how you travel 37 Cycling • Cycle parking available at most Games venues • Cycle information for each available at Toronto2015.org • Cycle and walking trip planning available via Triplinx • Signs indicate cycle parking locations at venues 38 Parking • Parking may be limited, unavailable or not be in typical or anticipated locations • Parking plans for every venue with a driving option have been developed • Designated accessible parking at every competition venue (pre-booking required) • As there are multiple parking locations for the Hamilton venue, pre-booked, general parking is available for this venue only. • Check Toronto2015.org for venue parking information and plan your travel using the 2015 Games Trip Planner app 39 During the Games • Transportation operators from across the region will work side-by-side in one location • Regular processes for disseminating transportation information will continue • Daily updates on planned closures and traffic restrictions related to the Games • Real-time traffic updates via social and digital media and 2015 Games Trip Planner alerts 40 Transportation Management • Unified Transportation Coordination Centre will have onsite and remote representation from MTO, TO2015, ISU, Metrolinx, City of Toronto, TTC, regional and local municipalities, and transit agencies AGENDA • Operational 18 hours per day from June 29 – August 18 at MTO’s COMPASS facility • Monitor all modes of transportation, traffic, detect incidents, coordinate operations, clear delays quickly • Over 50 test exercises have taken place to date • Full “stand-up” exercise took place May 10-12. More than 40 representatives from 12 partner agencies worked together to test for Games Time Readiness 41 ISU Support • The Ontario Provincial Police’s (OPP) commitment is to support safe and reliable transportation for athletes and officials • The Integrated Security Unit (ISU) is working with municipal officials and the Ontario Ministry of Transportation on traffic management plans to manage parking issues, road congestion and other related concerns • The ISU and its municipal policing partners are working to ensure local residents can move freely to and from their homes and / or place of business during the Games 42 HOV Compliance and Education • The ISU, led by the Ontario Provincial Police, has developed an HOV lanes enforcement strategy • The OPP will continue to monitor the HOV network on highways for which it is responsible and will ticket those who do not adhere to the regulation for use • Fine for incorrect use of HOV lanes is $85, plus a victim’s surcharge of $25, for a total of $110 and three demerit points • The OPP will actively enforce compliance of the HOV lanes as of June 29 • Awareness activities will include media awareness, media ride-alongs, on camera interviews 43 City of Toronto • Temporary HOV lanes will be implemented on the Don Valley Parkway, Gardiner Expressway and sections of Lake Shore Boulevard. • Static signs have been installed and messages have been posted on the overhead changeable message signs advising motorists of the upcoming temporary HOV lanes. • Traffic management measures (parking, loading and turn restrictions) will be introduced on other sections of the GRN to improve traffic flow and reliability for Games Clients. • The courses for the road race events (Lake Shore Boulevard and the roads in and around High Park) have been rehabilitated to ensure safe and fair competition. 44 City of Toronto (con’t) • The capital programs and works of the City Divisions, utility companies and other stakeholders have been coordinated to minimize conflicts with Games-related travel and activities. • The issuance of permits for filming, special events, development-related construction and other maintenance activities will consider the potential impacts on Games-related travel. • The City has worked with the Province on a strategy to encourage businesses to implement Off-Peak Deliveries in order to reduce the demand for heavy truck movements during peak daytime hours. • The City will sweep streets, cut grass, repair asphalt and concrete, clean street furniture and eradicate graffiti along key routes and around competition and non-competition venues. 45 Planning Around the Venues • A plan for each venue and local area has been developed by the Venue Transport Working Groups (VTWGs) which brought together planners from the TO2015, the Ministry of Transportation, the Integrated Security Unit, municipalities, local stakeholders and transit partners. • To deliver services for Athletes, Media and Spectators, and limit the impacts on local residents and businesses, temporary traffic measures will be introduced in the local area, including: • Signal timing coordination and modifications • Parking and stopping restrictions • Turn restrictions • Conversion of roads to one-way operations • Road closures • Police-managed traffic control points • The implementation of these traffic measures is consistent with the event schedules in order to minimize the impact on area residents and businesses. 46 Travelling to PAC • For wayfinding purposes the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre & Field House is known as PAC. • Planning for travel is best done from TORONTO2015.org PAC venue page; Modes of Travel Regional Map Spectator Map Link to Triplinx Accessibility Info 47 CIBC Fan AmfF'arapan Am Aquatics Carr?: Field House TAMS Fm BONEPIEL BLVD MDRHIHGSIDE AVE - Cnmpefi?h?en a Specta?reren?rraneefexit Speetafer parking Fra?beeked parking Cycle parking 8 Spectafer shu?l?l?le drep-e?fpiek-up Spectamrwalking route Specta?rer parking driving mute MGR ELLE a Metres ?a ?51 I I I Elii?if?li CI 10-0 EDD ?2 48 I.
