Background Original purpose of grant was to: I Complete a detailed corridor master plan along Nebraska Avenue from Downtown to Hillsborough Avenue, then to 22"d Street I Complete a station area plan for the high speed rail station When Governor Scott tumed down the federal funding, the City approached HUD with an alternative to the station area plan - I Complete a Downtown area plan (2 miles of the downtown center) I The Nebraska Corridor Master Plan remains part of the project. 0 Total cash funding - $1.3 Million ($1.18 Million from HUD, $125,000 City match). To be used to procure nationally recognized planning consulting services. Objectives/ Opportunities: Establish a cohesive vision development strategy for the City's urban core (within 2 miles of downtown). Identify specific recommendations for promoting transit oriented development along the City's primary transit corridors. Update development regulations (streamline and modemize, form- based provisions) 0 Participants: Nearly every city department and all regional and state agencies that serve this area will be involved in the project. 0 Community Stakeholders: Project relies heavily on the input and dialogue of residents and communities that live and work in this area. Organized public engagement will begin this fall - striving for maximum involvement possible. 0 Project Start: The project will kick-off in the next couple of weeks with a nationwide search for a qualified consultant.
