Upon arrival Officers stated the vehicle was found parked at this residence and the homeowners advised the vehicle doesn't belong there. At that time I deployed K--9 Tomy for a track. He immediater began tracking westbound down the sidewalk of Culebra Ave for two houses before entering the backyard. We continued tracking northbound coming out to San Pablo Ave. crossing the street to the nortnside and continuing eastbound Momens later a witness stated he observed two femaies and a maie subject running eastbound past their house. They further advised one female stated cant run anymore" and another stating "You have to or we will get caught by the cops". Per information received we were looking for at least one known female driver. We continued tracking eastbound until we cut in between houses northbound coming out to Cheseboro Ave At that time I observed bare footprints on the dirt along the sidewalk going eastbound We reached Anador St. and continued southbound before losing the track. While recasting K--9 Tomy I heard someone running down the street. I turned an observed a white female (Danielie L. Drake) running. I immediately began giving loud Page 1 verbal commands: "Police K-9 Stop". Ms. Drake refused, and then concealed herself out of sight behind a large bush. As I approached still yelling "Police, come out and show your hands" she still refused, not emerging from the bush. Due to preventing the escape of the ?eeing subject, I circled around one side of the bush while Officer Murges #322 and Of?cer Mills #260 came around the other. I had Tomy attached to his lead which I was holding with approximately 1 foot of reach. While coming around the brush Ms. Drake emerged from behind in a crouched position running into K-9 Tomy making physical contact with him. K-9 Tomy clue to protecting himself and me subsequently bit Ms. Drake in the left upper head area. I attempted to pull K-9 Tomy back which didn?t allow him to latch on therefore no command to release was given. Based on the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident, knowing we were looking for a female driver and while actively tracking I observed Ms. Drake running in an attempt to get away after giving verbal commands. I had reasonable suspicion to detain Ms. Drake for possible DUI and leaving the scene of an accident with property damange. While on scene with Ms. Drake I could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her person. North Port Fire Department was immediately called and responded. Ms. Drake was transported to North Port ER where she was treated. Photographs were taken and placed into property. This ended my involvement in this matter. This incident is in reference to case# 2014-06-0959. Field Contact Report Page 2
