case Document 70-1 Filed 01/31/12 Page 3 of 5 PageID 735 Property Description (FULL): DA CIVIC CAR Vehicle Information: Year: 1997 Make: Honda Model: Civic VIN: Plate: VEM204 State: LA omcers Supplemental: 0n the 05-01-2011 at about 00:45am, I Sgt: Robert McGee and Sgt: Lucas Lavergne were dispatched for a complaint called in by 911 dispatcher (Pam) for assistance. 911 dispatcher advised that Mr. Craig West caught a vehicle on his property somewhere on Hwy 95 [out of Town Limits) and he was following the vehicle on the Ball Park Road in Mamou heading towards Mamou City limits. 911 dispatcher advised the vehicle was headed into Town and the license plate numberwas VEM204. Myself Sgt: McGee and Sgt: Lucas proceeded with the call and located the vehicle, stopping it at 00:53am on East St. [625 East St). Upon stopping the vehicle, 1 Sgt: McGee ran the license Plate number being VEM204, which came backto a 1997 Honda Civic/green in color belonging to Trey Manuel. 1 Sgt: McGee advised the driver Trey Manuel why we stopped him [because he was on private property) and asked for his driver license which was 9256494. 1 Sgt: McGee called in to dispatch (Rose Watkins) to run lic. 9256494 at 00:58am. which came backvalid belonging to the driver Trey Manuel. While i Sgt: McGee was dealing with the driver Sgt: Lucas talked to the passenger and ran his 10 card. number 10484809 at 01:03am which came back to a Travis Manuel who was also valid. While waiting for Mr. West and Evangeline Parish Sheriff Oilice (BPSO) Sgt: Lucas noticed two females in the rear seat of the vehicle. Sgt: Lucas advised that there were two Mexican girls in the car. Both myself Sgt: McGee and Sgt: Lucas tried speaking with the females but they did not understand English and we did not understand Spanish so we were unable to communicate. Apparently neither female had identi?cation on them after asking the driver Trey Manuel and passenger Travis Manuel who the females were and if they could communicate with them. Both Travis and Trey advised they would communicate by texting. They advised the girls had some sort of translation on their phone but the phone was dead. Sgt: McGee and Sgt: Lucas spoke to Trey Manuel and Travis Manuel who told us they met the girls at Wei-Mart got their numbers and been texting the girls for some time. They advised they were texting the girls that night and that the girls wanted to go riding so they went pick up the girls not knowing they were doing any wrong. They were both told by Sgt: McGee to hang tight that BPSO was going to want to speak with them being the incident happen outside Town limits. Mr. Craig West showed up (about 01:05am) and both myself Sgt: McGee and Sgt: Lucas alter Mr. Craig introducing himsel? advised us that he was the one that called and that the vehicle was on his property. Mr. Craig advised he noticed the car was by his resident near where he housed his crawfish peeler women, [Mexican Women). Mr. Craig advised that he seen the vehicle backing up and he proceeded to follow the vehicle down Hwy 95 where the vehicle ended up turning down the Ballpark Rd heading to Town where he contacted the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Of?ce, which they (EPSO) in return contacred amou Police because their Deputy was a ways out and asked us for assistance. Mr. Craig advised he did not know what they were doing back there but he did not want them around his place. Craiggt wanted to ?le charges he would have to speak with the EPSO Deputy when he would arrive. r. Craig advised olt. While speaking with Mr. Craig. Sgt: Lucas advised that there were two girls in the car, which Mr. West advised they might be two of his girls. Mr. West looked into the vehicle and. advised yes. that the two girls worked with him as crawiish peelers. Sgt: McGee adwsed Mr. Craig that apparently they did not have identification on them and he advised no but he had their information at his house. Mr. Craig asked if we could scare the girls by bringing them to the police station. i Sgt: McGee advised was goner bring them to the Police Dept. and he replied ok, he would get their information and bring it back to the Police Dept. and also bring a interpreter so we could ?nd out exactly what transpired and to see ifthe girls were legal (not a scare tactic) just to make sure everything was in order as far as paper work on the two girls. At this time EPSO arrived, at about 01:08am, and Sgt: Lucas and Mr. Craig spoke with the Deputy. Benjamin Bordelon. i Sgt: McGee asked the two girls using my hands to come with me and open the back door to my unit, them to get in, trying to tell them they were ok but don?t know if they understood me. (The two girls were not cuffed). They seemed a little frightened but got into my unit with no problems and I Sgt: McGee called in to dispatch. i Sgt: McGee called into dispatch that i had two Hispanic females -- 10-5. meaning not arrested but to bring subjects in to check status (Check for proper paper work). i Sgt: McGee gave mystarung mileage, which is procedure, starting mileage was 78181 at 01:10am and my ending mileage was the same 78181 at 01:12am. The drive was nine blocks from where traf?c stop was made at 625 East St to the Mamou Police Station at 501 Main St. The two girls were taken out myunit and brought in to the Mamou Police Dept. patrol room, where there is a camera system. The two girls sat down and the smaller but taller one was upset, crying and saying whatl could understand Mexico. (go back to Mexico]. 1 gathered they were afraid that they were in trouble and would have to go back to Mexico. i Sgt: McGee tried to tell them that everything was ok, so did Sgt: Lucas and they might have understood alittle because the girl stopped crying and then was smiling. Both females seemed to be ok with us and were talking to each other but we could not understand what they were saying but we tried making them feel comfortable while waiting on Mr. West to come with paper Mr): and the interpreter. i Sgt: McGee was dispatched at 01:13am to do a 10-14, which was at Dr. Prentis Perkins Dentist of?ce, to assist with a female leaving the building after doing paper work and wanted assistance to get into her vehicle safely. ngt: McGee went back to Mamou PD at 015.6811). Sgt: Lucas stayed with females until got back At about 01:3 7, Sgt: Lucas was dispatched to Kids Corners Day Care for a call from Abi gal Fontenot in reference to noise around the Day Care. Of?cer Pat Hail came in for change at 01:553m and also present was Deputy Brent Zacker with EPSO who stepped for few minutes. Finally Mr. Craig West came in with preper paper work on the two girls but did not bring the interpreter.
