21 August 2015 Dear-- Official Information Act Request SSE) OIA 08/15/04 Thank you for your email of 6 August 2015 in which you have requested the following information under section 12 of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA): - Ail advice on the consultation process. - Whether SSC has begun writing a draft mid-term self-assessment for the if so I'd like to know when the work was started and a copy of the latest version. Section 12 of the CIA sets out the requirements for requests for access to official information. Subsection (2) provides that a request for official information must be specified with "due particularity", Section 12 is to be read in conjunction with section 13, which makes it a duty of every department. Minister and organisation to give "reasonable assistance" to a person to make a request in accordance with section 12 Unfortunately the first part of your request, as it is currently worded, appears to lack due particularity and it may be that the information cannot be made available without substantial collation or research (section 18(f) OIA). The State Services Commission (the Commission) requires some clarification in order to formulate a response Please refine your request to make the scope of the request ciearv Specifically, are you seeking advice from the Commission relating to the mid-term assessment consultation process that is currently undenivay, or more generally on OGP consultation? Are you seeking all advice, external and internal. or specifically advice to particular persons? Once the Commission has received clarification your request will be processed as soon as practicable In relation to the second part of your request, the Commission has commenced drafting the self-assessment report. This work commenced in March 2015. A copy will not be provided at this stage in reliance on 59(2)(f)(iv) of the Official Information Act 1982. I have considered whether or not the broader public interest outweighs the interest protected by 59(2)(f)(iv) and have determined that it does not. I advise you of your right under section 28(3) of the Act to make a complaint to an Ombudsman about this extension Yours sincerely rri Andrew Royle Chief Legal Advisor 3 9 A NewZezlarid Phone .64 M95 6606 mm 0956655
