ASHLEY PENNINGTON AND WILLIAM S. MCGUIRE:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the State of South Carolina, by Scarlett A. Wilson,
Solicitor for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, hereby gives notice pursuant to Section of the

South Carolina Code of Laws that at the trial of the above-captioned case, to be scheduled on a

date at least thirty (30) days hence, of which you will be timely noti?ed, the death penalty will be
sought against Dylann Storm Roof.

FURTHERMORE, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the State of South Carolina, pursuant
to Sections 16-3 and of the South Carolina Code of Laws, hereby gives notice
of the following statutory aggravating circumstances:

(1) The State alleges that Dylann Storm Roof by his act of murder knowingly created

a great risk of death to more than one person in a public place by means of a
weapon or device which normally would be hazardous to the lives of more than
one person, Section Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976 as
amended.

(2) The State alleges that two or more persons were murdered by Dylann Storm Roof

by one act or pursuant to one scheme or course of conduct, Section 16?3?

Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, as amended.
