SENATE BILL 01

A bill to fund the Dunn Transportation Service, which will transport students around the 
Downtown campus and the surrounding areas, at the costs outlined in Option 3. 
 
 
WHEREAS, the transportation service, Dunn Transportation, be fully funded for the term of the 
2015­2016 academic year by the Undergraduate Student Government Downtown (USGD), 
 
WHEREAS the student body would benefit from a transportation service that helps meet a 
variety of needs including, but not limited to, grocery shopping, reaching parking lots, safety, 
and enjoying local businesses & restaurants, within the determined route,  
 
WHEREAS research, time, staff & student feedback has allowed USGD to develop specific, 
worthwhile improvements of the service, 
 
BE IT ENACTED, that USGD will develop an online survey for students to participate in order 
to provide feedback in regards to the transportation service, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that USGD will advertise said feedback survey on all appropriate 
marketing materials and will encourage student participation through incentive programs, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that the Vice President of Services is required to give two general 
reports to the Senate, one in October and another in March; both will include student feedback, 
 

 BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that the Vice President of Services is required to give two 
detailed reports, one at the end of each semester, both reports will include student feedback, 
ridership information and recommendations for any necessary changes to the service, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that the aforementioned Vice President of Service’s reports will 
be passed onto incoming USGD leadership by the end of the semester so as to ensure that 
incoming leadership is better equipped to make an informed decision in regards to the possible 
continuation of the transportation service,  
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that USGD will establish a system for collecting ridership 
information through a system which differentiates between “returning” and “new” riders, results 
of said system will be included in the Vice President of Service’s end of semester reports, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that USGD will create a position within the internship program in 
the efforts of hiring a student to help manage and support this transportation service, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that USGD will ensure that the service is marketed to multiple 
constituencies as a general & flexible transportation service, and in a variety of ways including, 
but not limited to, “Slice for Advice” events, tabling during Fall Welcome Week, floor meetings 
within the residential halls, and flyers, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that USGD will urge for a flexible agreement with Dunn 
Transportation that allows for the shifting of routes and hours at the end of the Fall semester in 
order to properly respond to the findings found within the Vice President of Service’s reports, as 
long as such changes do not result in a price increase, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that the transportation service will run Monday ­ Thursday 6PM ­ 
10:30PM focusing on a parking & general transportation route and Sunday 1PM ­ 6PM focusing 
on a grocery route, 
 
BE IT FURTHER ENACTED that the Dunn Transportation service that is described within this 
piece of legislation be funded fully for the academic year of 2015­2016 for the cost of $36,150.
