Court proceedings are still pending. Homicide Unit/Historical Homicide Unit Homicides 2015 – Q2: 11   2 of the victims were female. 1 of the female victims was indigenous. (Cleared by charge). Enforcement Counter Exploitation Unit     5 males were arrested and charged for prostitution related offences. 6 exploitation investigations. 1 historical offence that involved procuring sex from a youth. 1 human trafficking investigation where the victim was identified as an indigenous female. Winnipeg Police Service 1 Prevention and Intervention Missing Persons Unit Short Term Missing Persons Update – Q2 Totals by District: Division 11 Division 12 Division 13 Division 14 City-Wide Total 401 573 572 633 2179       Habitual/ Chronic MP’s accounted for 68% of the MP Occurrences in Q2 2015. In total, 709 individuals were Missing Persons during Q2 2015. 71% of Missing Persons in Q2 2015 were female. CFS Facilities accounted for 82.6% of MP Occurrences. Group Homes accounted for 61% of MP Occurrences. There were 22 individuals with 15 or more MP incidents in Q2, accounting for 20% of the total. Her body was pulled from the Red River in June 2012. She had not previously been reported missing. Counter Exploitation Unit     91 intervention contacts with street level sex trade workers. 7 newly identified sex trade workers. 12 Community Events. 2 SPI Initiatives. Community Engagement Block by Block – Thunderwing Initiative Focus on individual or families in crisis prevention in the William Whyte and Dufferin neighborhoods.   8 individual or family referrals. 7 active files. Winnipeg Police Service 3 Other Initiative SPI #CE1 On 15-05-25 the CET initiated a SPI hotspot after holding discussions with community stakeholders including the Mission Baptist Church at 771 Sargent Ave. Met with the Pastor and other community members to discuss ongoing issues with respect to Sex Trade activity in the area. As a result of the SPI initiative, the ongoing efforts of the CET were supplemented by General Patrol members who dedicated approximately six man-hours of attention to the area in a 30 day period. North End Community Renewal Center CET members attended the North End Community Renewal Center, 509 Selkirk Ave, on 2015-06-17 for a meeting with members of the Bear Clan and the Take Back the Streets movement. Documentary – Red River Women The WPS participated in a BBC documentary that high-lighted the issue of missing and murdered women with particular emphasis on Winnipeg. The documentary raised public awareness around the issue and some of the strategic initiatives involving WPS Units and the community. The documentary was published in April.
