MetroHealth learned today that law enforcement agents searched the home of a
former MetroHealth executive Edward Hills, DDS, and the offices of a business
associated with Dr. Hills, and two privately owned dental clinics. The businesses
searched are not part of The MetroHealth System. Dr. Hills, a former chief operating
officer of The MetroHealth System and former chair of the Department of Oral
Health, resigned his MetroHealth position in December 2014 as part of an
organizational restructuring.
We cannot comment on an ongoing investigation except to say that this
investigation began when MetroHealth alerted law enforcement to possible
irregularities in the Department of Oral Health and Dentistry. Since then, we have
cooperated fully with the investigation while being careful not to take any actions
that could jeopardize the investigation.
MetroHealth absolutely does not tolerate any behavior that runs counter to the law,
our policies or Code of Ethical Behavior. We will respond appropriately when the
investigation is complete.
