RE: Report of Death Kentucky River Regional Jail - County Inmate

On July 9, 2013, the Division of Local Facilities received information from Kentucky River
Regional Jail that county inmateLarry Joe Trent had died.

On July 9, 2013, county inmate Trent became combative against deputies on duty and use of
force was necessary for restraint. An altercation occurred between jail staff and inmate Trent
resulting in injuries to both. Once the altercation was resolved, inmate Trent was placed back in
his cell where he later was found to be unresponsive. Inmate Trent was transported to the local
hospital at which time he was pronounced dead. Autopsy pending.

Paula Holden, Deputy Commissioner, Jeff Burton, Director and Michael Coomer, Jail Services
Specialist, with the Department of Corrections have been noti?ed of the death. Investigation
continues through KSP, reports to follow.
