Inouye WASHINGTON—Today, Congressman Mark Takai (HI-01) marked the 20th anniversary of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS) by delivering a speech on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Today’s event celebrated this landmark occasion with a ceremony renaming APCSS to the Daniel K. Inouye Center to honor the late nine-term senator. “For the last 20 years, the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies has made significant strides in educating, connecting, and empowering security practitioners. I would like to thank the Center for their leadership. I am pleased to see the APCSS renamed as the Daniel K. Inouye Center, honoring the legacy of the late senator who advocated strongly for peace and stability around the world,” Takai said. A video of Takai’s floor speech was played during the event as part of a larger effort that included other members of Hawaii’s Congressional Delegation. “Once again, I want to extend our congratulations on 20 years of outstanding service, and my warmest mahalo for the tremendous work being done there,” Takai concluded. ###
