How about developing Kelly Butte as a nature park to take advantage of water bureau property ....the basketball court idea for Powell Valley Water Bid. , etc.....now that stuff I could get excited about In a message dated 7/8/2005 11:55:13 P.M. I think our plan should be comprehensive , and the public should not be conscious that we are on a public relations campaign, but should rather wake up one day and say, "The water bureau sure is badass." I just wanted to give you my thought before you responded to Eddie. What do you guys think? Below is his concept for 'Stop and Talks' at some of the bureau's decorative fountains. Before moving forward with this program, we'd like to get your buy-in and/or feedback about not moving forward . There is a risk in doing this of a Lars or Lars wannabe criticizing the bureau for spending staff resources or rate dollars on giveaways. Despite that, I believe trying this is worth the risk. Let me know what you guys think. Draft Stop & Talk Concept for Summer "Stop and Talk" Program Goals: * Broaden WB outreach to users of WB public facilities and other targeted populations, leveraging public decorative fountains , public spaces with Benson Bubblers, other public events * Gather input to support major programs' efforts to understand public attitudes/concerns through a short survey * Increase the contact lists of WB CIP outreach and other programs DiLorenzo Decl., Exhibit 6 Page 1 of 2 WATR_174124 by asking to follow-up with engaged citizens * Build goodwill by distributing water bottles to thank public for taking time to talk to WB staff Concept: Starting in July, pairs of WB outreach staff engage Portland residents at busy decorative fountains, public gathering places (such as Pioneer Square) and at targeted public events (such as the Cathedral Park events in St. Johns). The outreach team would offer a brief "water user survey" to willing participants, featuring questions such as: 1. Take a guess at how much it would cost to fill us this water bottle with water from your tap at horne? (Answer: 1/16th of a penny in Portland) 2. Do you know where your drinking water comes from? (use 3-d system map to show) 3. Did you know that endangered salmon live in the lower Bull Run River? 4. During a typical summer, how often do you water your lawn? 5. Is there anything else you want to know about your drinking water or the Water Bureau? 6. Would you be interested in getting more information about future decisions about Portland's water system and conservation issues? (Get contact info and specific interests if they say yes) In thanks for taking the survey, participants receive water bottle. Staff would carry small quantities of other outreach info as well.
