FILE NOTE December 2001 The welfare of the individual field officer is the single most important factor of all those conditioning the conduct of his/her operation. From January 2002 will be contracted to provide counselling and assessment on a systematic basis for field officers; ad hoc arrangements will also be available for those close to field officers and for office staff. The following describe the system 0 Each field officer will undergo counselling at least every six months 0 An ill-depth debrief will take place at the end of each operation 0 A post-operational debrief will follow six months after the end of the operation 0 Extra counselling to no limit will be available on request - Counselling is available on request to SDS office staff I Counselling will be available to those close to field officers or to office staff 0 The DCI may direct any member of SDS staff to undergo extra counselling 0 Self?referral, Without the knowledge of the DCI, will not occur 0 Records will be kept by Dr-. Feedback by-to the SDS office will be only in general terms and issue? rather than individual?based. That feedback will be with the agreement of the of?cers concerned. 0 Dr - retains the right to secure the agreement of the client to inform the DCI of a matter which- believes ought to be disclosed; failure to agree to this will involve a breach of the officer's terms of engagement on the SDS These arrangements complement the daily support provided by the SDS office to field officers. Field and office will endeavour to ensure Cl Contact by phone a MeetingsExtra meetings as required CI Limitation of knowledge of confidential personal matters to those specified by the officer field or office. In all cases this must include the DCI DI. ?m
