Some disorder arose and arrests were made during the demonstration held
by t.e Vietnam Solidarity Campaign ans allied organisations on Sunday, 16th
Heron, 1969.

When the head of t?e demonstration reaehed a point in Oxford S?reet opposite
Herman Street a group of about 50 anarchists, most from Reading University
ran forwer? and took over the leadershiy of the procession. They spread
across the whole width of roadeay and when police-began to restrain them
they sat down. After about 2 minutes police persuaded then to more and the
demonstration oontinue? its progress via St. Giles Circus an? Sharing ?rcas
Road to Trafalgar Sonare, time of arrival 2.40 p.n. apposite St. Martins
in.the Field Church the Reading contingent, joinei by a rare? from Ruskin
College, Oxford, ren ahead of the procession to be fires at the meeting riaoe.

yolice. One arrest wee made. Police then ?iepereed the crowd. The Ree?ing
and Ruskin groups went into Victoria Embankment to Bridge Street and Old Palace

At this yoint in time there were four greets of demonstrators up to 40
strong wandering around the West End escorted by police. At Coventry Stre


a further arrest was made. The area was clear of demonstrators by about 5.45 p.m.
