From: MaryEllen Odell, Gin/d)? - Putnam County Executive Re: Ailes Donation for Cold Spring Senior Center :5 :33 Date: October 19, 2015 Wm. 91? Ca.) to I know that the Physical Services Committee is holding a special meeting tonight to discuss the proposed lease of space at the former Butter?eld Hospital site so that the issue of its approval can be moved to the November regular full meeting of the Putnam County Legislature. I cannot stress enough the importance of moving this project forward. Speci?cally, time is now running out. I have been informed by Elizabeth Ailes that The Ailes Family not?for?profit corporation must disburse the Bradley Foundation prize money ($250,000 which was awarded in 2013 and which is going to be matched by a contribution directly from the Ailes family) by November 30, 2015 or they will be forced to forfeit the funds. In light of the foregoing, it is our ?scal and social responsibility to the people of Putnam County to move this project forward. It would be immensely imprudent to allow this enormous gift of funds to escape us. The residents on the western side of Putnam County deserve to have a senior center which offers comparable amenities and programs to other county-run friendship and nutrition centers. The $500,000 which has been pledged to this project by Roger and Elizabeth Ailes would aid immensely in offsetting the costs of developing just such a senior center at the Butter?eld location. Approving the lease would also insure that additional grant opportunities through Senator Serino and Sandy Galef remain available to the County. As such, I implore the members of the Physical Services Committee to move this initiative forward so that all of the members of the Legislature have the opportunity to vote on the proposed lease before this enormous opportunity is no longer available to us.
