Has Te Papa been in any negotiations about or does it have any plans for an exhibition on the New Zealand intelligence community (SIS, GCSE NAB etc)? lfso I'd like all communications with the originating agency as well as their Vision /desires for the exhibition The followmg documents have been provided in response to your query - Idea Summary Science and Spooks . Emails between Te Papa staff and New Zealand intelligence Community in regards to this matter Please note personal details have been in the above documents to protect the privacy of natural persons under Section of the aflicial lnlormation Act Background to Te Papa's exhibition proposal process Until Juiy 20i4' Te Papa staff captured initial concepts for proposed exhibition ideas in an internal 'ldea Summary' document before seeklng agreement to proceed to proposal stage it a more in-depth proposal document was developed, approval would then be sought to develop the proposed exhibition it is worth noting a large number of possible exhibition ideas are captured at the initial idea Summary' levei' but after considerations including budget, audiences and timeframes only a few of these would be expected to be developed as exhibitions Discussions with NZ Intelligence Community re exhibition Te Papa had some engagement with the New Zealand Intelligence Community regarding their collections including possible collaboration with Te Papa for an exhibition. In March 2014 a brief 'Idea Summary' document was drafted and agreement to proceed to a proposal stage was approved. Due to changes in Te Papa's long-term exhibition planning in July 2014, ideas for an exhibition With the NZ Intelligence Community did not proceed beyond this stage. No exhibition proposal document was developed, nor was further negotiation about an exhibition With the NZ Intelligence Community undertaken. Te Papa doesn't currently have any plans for an exhibition on the New Zealand intelligence community. National Security Communications Director Antony Byers would be happy to discuss the NZ intelligence Community exhibition proposal in more detail He can be contacted on aniony byers@dgmc govt nz Yours sincerely, Loraine Milne SENIOR ADVISOR, PLANNING AND PERFORMANCE
