This is a follow up to your concern regarding the care your mother, Paula Schuite, received while she
was a patient in our intensive Care Unlt (icui from August 8-16, 2012 Feedback from patients and
tarnin members aliows us [0 eontinue to improve the of our sewises

You stated when we spoke that your mother suttered a tail white she was a patient in our icu unit An x7
ray or the eioow was ordered and the resuits Came back negative Van further stated your mother was
discharged to Emerald Health Care and was admitted to St. Lucie Medicai Center because at a fractured
hip and underwent surgery In addition you stated whtie she was a patient at LRMC, the hip fracture
was not identitied and an x~ray orthe hip and wrist was not ordered by the 

lshared your concerns with the Director or Criticai Care Services We investigated your mother's care,
which Included a revlew of the medical record Our investigation Indicated that on August 8, 2012, Ms.
Schulte was admitted to ICU With acute respiratory failure and seixures she was ventiiated and treated
On August 12'" your mother surfered a rail and was found on the floor next to the bad There was a
discoloration to the right arm and she complained of pain in that arm There were no compiainls of hip
pain The physician was notified and orders were received for an xeray ol the right extremity and CT or
head and chest The CT of head and chest were negative and the xsray of the right arm was negative for
fracture The patient continued (0 receive therapy throughout her admissron and was
to Rehab on August 15'" There was no ind.cat.on during the four day period between the

fail and discharge that your mother sustained any injury to her hip
