Incarcerated: Pinegrove Correctional Centre This is a letter for everyone currently at Pinegrove Correctional Centre for women in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Since compass has taken over the food supplement we have had issues with it. We are writing on behalf of the woman and ourselves that are incarcerated at this facility. In hope for you to voice our concerns and complaints we have with the new company compass and with the way they provide the food. The food that is being provided doesn?t amount to much, especially if you consider those with special diets and pregnant women. As of November 2015 the Ministry of Justice signed a contract with a food company called ?Compass?. This contract was put into place to save a few extra dollars. For three dollars a day they feed us inadequate and low quality food. This company does not provide the proper nutrients or follow the Canadian Food Guide. In fact there are times where we are not sure what the food is that we are being served. We have concerns with this because we are unaware of what we are eating and are concerned for long term affects, and especially for the women who have diabetes and pregnant women. We have been served food that is uncooked, leftovers from days before and mystery meat. When the original correctional kitchen staff was here, the staff inmates would both eat the same meal that had been prepared by the cooks. Staff was able to eat and go to the back of the kitchen and now it is prohibited and that concerns the staff and inmates a lot more. We are unaware of the process they use to prepare the food and are worried that they do not care enough to follow correct health procedures. Some women have gotten sick after their meal, and have a fear of eating because they do not want to feel ill. Many people are still hungry after dinner and supper. We are feed bread in between meals to ?ll?ll our hunger and feed bread to go along with every one of our meals, we are sick of bread. We are served 9 pieces of wonder bread a day. The kitchen staff will not speak to us about any of the concerns that we have. IV- -n?In.llHow is the food being prepared? What is in the food? Where are they getting it from? These are questions we would like straight up answers to. We feel this company has to go, because some of the women will not eat the food. We are people with morals, values and self respect. This is our ?rst step to be heard. You are more then welcomed to phone or drop in and see it but we doubt they will talk or even pick up your call. We understand the reasons of our individual incarcerations and we have made some wrong choices in our lives that brought us to the position are still human beings just like everyone else, and we want to express out rights as human beings. We are hoping to have our voices heard and our concerns brought up to be noticed by the people who can help or want to help. We are writing letters in h0pe that everyone who is incarcerated can have their concerns and complaints heard. Sincerely: Everyone Incarcerated
