.POLICE COMMISSION REFORM PROPOSAL

 

The current proposal has been developed with the understanding that the vast majority of
Honolulu police officers are highly trained, capable people who strive to serve the public every
day with professionalism and that the power and authority invested in them along with the
dangerous situations in which we expect them to work, warrants independent review to enhance
the public?s trust and to protect police officers.

Section 6-1603. Chief of Police

   
   
   
   

- The Chief of Police shall serve at the pleasure of the:

following language: The Police Commission will include a diverse array of seven
individuals, from a cross~section of the community who have the requisite education and
experience to impartially review evidence and render judgments on matters that come
