Arrest of Police Officer Joseph Simpson

On January 26, 2016, Police Officer Joseph Simpson, Badge: P790, District Five, was
indicted by the State of Ohio, Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas, in case
number B1600259, for one felony count of Theft in Office, Section 2921.41 (A)(1) Ohio
Revised Code, a felony of the fifth degree. The indictment was a result of a criminal
investigation conducted by the Internal Investigations Unit after becoming aware of an
incident that occurred while the officer was working an off duty restaurant detail.
Officer Simpson’s police powers have been suspended and he has been placed on
suspended without pay status pending the outcome of the criminal prosecution.
