Dear Parents and Guardians, 
 
The safety of our students is always a top priority at William Brown Miller Elementary 
School. When issues of concern are brought to our attention, we feel it is important to 
share them with you. 
 
One of our students brought a gun to school today. With the help of some students who 
reported seeing the firearm, our staff took immediate action and fortunately, no one was 
injured.  
 
While we are still gathering information about this incident, please know that student 
safety will always be a non-negotiable at our school. If you have firearms in your home, I 
urge you to make sure they are kept locked away in a safe location out of your children’s 
reach. I also encourage you to take this time to talk to your children about gun safety.
