9/16f10 I went to Kids Space and spoke to Deborah Stokes about the complaints. She said she was ordering McDonalds and pizza and has her daily receipts. Now she is ordering from Kozy Kitchen and they deliver it to the day care. She said she uses paper plates for food and snacks. She said the children bring their own cups with their name on them or she uses paper cups. There were cups and spoons in the sink and she said she has a handicapped child and those were hers and she does wash them not just rinse. I advised her about wash, rinse, and sanitize and she said she knows to do that. There were rat droppings in the lower cabinet and she said the pest control came out when she opened and said there were no problems but she will call them because she was not aware of the moppings. She said she gives them small portions because they do not eat it all sometimes and showed me the food left over from lunch. She said she has plenty, they just don?t eat it all. I walked through each room of the day care and did not see any pots. Some cups had names and some did not. I told her that the small refrigerator was not acceptable and she needed a full size one with a thermometer. She said that the milk was her personal milk and parents send powdered formula that they add water to. The bigger kids are given juice in their cups or paper cups. I called Kozy Kitchen the following morning, 9/17/10, and spoke to Patricia Myers. She said she started delivering about one week ago and delivers at 11:45 and lunch is served at 12:00. She said she was a little concerned because one day she sent 25 grilled cheese sandwiches and 13 were returned the next day. One day she sent 50 pancakes and 23 were returned. The other days the food was gone. Deborah Stokes said she brings the leftovers to her dog every day. Sarah Hasty from DHR called me on 91'17/10 to say that she had a complaint from a parent who removed her child from the day care because she was not happy with the care. I asked Sarah Hasty if DHR could investigate and take action if something wasn?t acceptable with the care and she said no because she is not licensed with the state, it is a ministry sponsored day care. I told her that she does not have a permit with us either. Cathy LaSource Public Health Environmentalist
