The previous letter does not re?ect the beliefs or feelings of the entire general assembly. We are writing to you today to ask. the IUB to give fair consideration to the pipeline permit requested by Dakota Access, LLC. We believe the Iowa general assembly should refrain from requesting additional requirements and let the IUB continue their professional, unbiased review of the project. Our understanding is that the Dakota Access pipeline will be subject to signi?cant environmental regulation and scrutiny through extensive applicable laws at the local, state and federai level intended to protect Iowa?s natural resources. Dakota Access has further assured us that they have surveyed and wili continue to survey For wetlands, cultural resources, weiis, protected areas, threatened and endangered species and other sensitive areas to meet or exceed what is required by state and federal regulations. We encourage the board to review the evidence independently and ask questions to explore the bene?ts of the pipeline, and to make sure that the environmental protections we understand to be present are, in fact, the case.
