Home » News » Parliament » Kgathi explains Seleka Springs, BDF relationship Kgathi explains Seleka Springs, BDF relationship Seleka Springs acted as agents for several companies for supply of specialised equipment, ammunition and spares to Botswana Defence Force (BDF) and Botswana Police Services (BPS) between 1989 and 2012. Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi, told parliament that the companies were Alvis Vickers (UK), Steyr Daimler, FN Herstal (SA), Thales Electronik System, Thales Raython Systems, Unionlet Limited, Meccar (SA) and Pilatus Aircraft Limited. Mr Kgathi said he was not privy to contract agreement details between the principal suppliers and Seleka Springs. “What I have been able to establish so far indicates the following amounts for the contracts that were in different currencies used in the different contracts; Franc- 62 993 048.00, Euros- 1 433 715 15 Euros, and P102 370 000,” Mr Kgathi said. In 2000, he said, Seleka Springs was awarded a tender as principal suppliers of service of rifles and pistols totaling P115 055 by BPS. Gabane/ Mmankgodi MP, Major General Pius Mokgware had asked the minister to state companies which Seleka Springs represented as agents since 1989 for supply of goods and services to BDF and BPS.
