At approximately 2:15 at the end of elephant
presentation Bamboo aggressed towards
Chai in presentation pavilion. Chai was
walking along the hot wire on the west side
of the yard when Bamboo, who was slowly
walking towards Chai, took a couple of
quick steps and head-butt Chai on her left
side. Chai was hit with enough force that
she fell over on her right side. Chai fell onto
the hot wire snapping the fiberglass pole and
tearing the hot wire down. The hot wire was
already off because of a short in the line.
After about 30 seconds Chai stood up on her
own. We were able to shift all elephants
except Chai out of the training pavilion.
Once we shift the other elephants into the
barn Chai eventually left the training
pavilion on her own after about an hour.
