TERMS OF REFERENCE
FOR
A NATIONAL PUBLIC ORDER INTELLIGENCE UNIT

To gather, evaluate, analyse, develop and disseminate intelligence:

relating to Animal Rights and Environmental Extremist activity;
and I
(ii) where substantial threats of criminal activities or to public order arise from

other political eittremism or protest activity.
In respect of and (ii) above:

to provide operational support to Police Forces exploiting that intelligence when
required;

to assist Forces in the invostigation of any related crime and the prosecution of
offences; .

to act as a co-ordination point for Special Branches to assist the police response
on threats to public order, where appropriate;

to? provide post-event information, as requested, to add value to police strategy

and operational planning.
