. i rig? 3a Minister Ministre .. -. 1 of Veterans Affairs des Anciens Combattants "m I I Ottawa, Canada K1AOP4 FEB 1 9 2016 Mr. Brian Masse, MP House of Commons Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A6 Dear Mr. Masse: Thank you for your letter regarding the reopening of Veterans Affairs Canada?s area of?ce in Windsor, Ontario. I also appreciated your kind words of congratulations on my election to Parliament and my appointment as Minister of Veterans Affairs. You can be certain that I will champion the interests of those who bravely served our country and take positive action on their behalf. My mandate letter from the Prime Minister details my current priorities and, as you know, I have been tasked with re-establishing nine area of?ces to deliver services to Veterans and their families. My department has already begun to hire more front-line staff and our goal is to reopen all nine of?ces, including the one in Windsor, within the next year. Furthermore, the Government of Canada would like to bring back lifelong pensions as an option for injured Veterans, increase the Earnings Loss Bene?t and create a new education benefit for eligible Canadian Armed Forces members after completion of service. Veterans Affairs Canada is working on these and other initiatives, and I will bring forward a proposal to Parliament for approval when it is ?nalized. Again, thank you for writing, and I look forward to collaborating with you and our fellow parliamentarians to achieve real progress for all Canadians. Sincerely, The Honourable Kent Hehr, PC, MP canad? i ., . gfig-?jsl {Kit/$3.
