Messages sent to Windham High School parents by Principal Christopher Howell and Superintendent Sanford J. Prince: 8:32 Tuesday night Dear Parents and Guardians, It has come to our attention that a concerning message was posted today on social media about Windham High School administrators. I would like to thank the parents and students who informed us of this post. Windham Police investigated the message tonight and made contact with the individual who made the post and that person’s family. As always, the physical and emotional safety of the students and adults at Windham High School remain our number one priority. Chris 9:47 Wednesday morning Dear Parents and Guardians, We had a great start to the school day today. I wanted to take the opportunity to follow up on the message that was sent on list-serve last night. It was brought to our attention last night that a concerning message about Windham High School administrators was posted on social media. I would like to personally thank the parents and students who stepped forward and notified us of this post. Windham Police investigated the matter last night and met with both the family and the individual. The individual posting the message has been removed from the school environment. School administration and the police are following up on this matter today. Each are working to ensure that all questions from students and the community are answered and that the building continues to remain a safe and welcoming place for our entire school community. Please feel to reach out to me if you have any questions, Chris 12:10 p.m. Wednesday Last evening, we received notification that a Windham High School student posted the following message on their Twitter feed: “If administration at Windham High School continues to treat students the way they are, they’re asking to be the next Columbine.” Upon receiving notification from the Windham Police Department and school administration we immediately acted upon the seriousness of the statement. Police found and located the source of the post. RSU 14 removed the source from the school environment. We want to thank students, parents and community members who brought this to our attention to allow school and law enforcement to swiftly address this incident. School administration and the police are following up on this matter today.
