Statement by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools 
Subject: Joint letter on ACICS’ re-recognition petition 
  
On behalf of the nearly 150,000 students attending and graduating from ACICS 
colleges and schools each year, the more than 1,000 volunteers who serve as peer 
reviewers and the dozens of volunteer ACICS commissioners who have contributed 
more than five weeks a year to the program of quality review, ACICS is disappointed 
and regrets the misleading allegations in this comment letter.  ACICS is preparing a 
comprehensive response to these critiques and will convey directly to the 
Department of Education as part of its petition for recognition.
