Timothy Dowd SUBJECT: EPA Hazardous Haste Study Enclosed please find copies of testimony and written statements presented to EPA in response to their final report to Congress on the oil and gas hazardous waste study. EPA will issue its regulatory determination at the end of June as to what, if any, new regulations will be proposed. Comments made at the public hearings, as well as information received from contractor-gathered studies in associated wastes, will be utilized by EPA in their determination. The Hazardous wastes and Toxic Substances Subcommittee of the Environment and Public Works Committee, chaired by SenatOr Max Baucus of Montana, has jurisdic- tion over this issue in the Senate; in the House of Representatives, it will be the Transportation, Tourism, and Hazardous Materials Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, chaired by Rep. Thomas A. token of Ohio. These sub- committees have indicated that they will hold hearings on the EPA report findings around the same time that the regulatory determination is announced.
