Statement of David Chase 4-14-2016 In re: false extortion/bribery stories I want to clear the record regarding several outrageous allegations made through illegally leaked and cherry-picked portions of depositions regarding my business relationship and my father’s business relationship with Bill Fletcher and his company. During depositions on a civil matter that Mr. Fletcher had nothing to do with, my mother and father were repeatedly asked hostile questions in many confusing sentence structures, and they ultimately gave answers that, when taken out of context, are misleading. My mother did clarify her remarks during the deposition, according to the Nashville Scene. She was asked if the two million dollar figure was a bribe, Sandra Chase said, “I did not get that feeling." The allegations of bribery and extortion are 100 percent false. From my perspective, and my personal belief, Mr. Fletcher’s dealings with me, my family. and our company were completely ethical. No one on our team, including Mr. Fletcher, ever suggested any sort of payment be made to any elected official for any purpose. Bill Fletcher provided crisis communication services for me throughout the malicious, and bogus, prosecution I endured for over a year, however, he also held a separate contract for advertising and public relations with my father’s company. The amount of compensation, the terms of that contract, and the negotiations of such, were in the context of an entirely separate issue. They should not be confused in any way, shape, or form to being relevant to the valid dismissal of the false prosecution that was currently underway, and was finally revealed by the District Attorney General as being a case with no probable cause.
