From: The Taft School Date: Tue, Feb 9, 2016 at 4:17 PM Subject: An Update from Taft's Board of Trustees February 9, 2016 Dear Taft Alumni, Parents, Faculty, Staff, and Students: I write to update you about Taft's steps in response to a story reported in the Boston Globe about alleged misconduct in 2004 at St. George's School by Taft faculty member Charles Thompson. As Headmaster Willy MacMullen '78 communicated to you at the end of January, Mr. Thompson has been placed on administrative leave from Taft. In order to thoroughly investigate the allegations reported in the Globe article, Taft's Board of Trustees has appointed Attorney William A. Ryan to conduct an independent review. Any members of the Taft community, including parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and students, who have concerns or questions may contact Mr. Ryan at Ryan & Ryan, 900 Chapel Street, Suite 621, New Haven, CT. Mr. Ryan can be reached by phone at(203) 752-9794 or by email at william.ryan@ryan-ryan.net. Please understand that while we are committed to transparency, out of a respect for privacy and for the integrity of the process we may be limited in what we can share prior to the investigation's completion. Taft remains dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment for all members of the Taft community. Sincerely, Rodman W.
