AQUARION WATER COMPANY LEAD & COPPER SAMPLING PROGRAM INSTRUCTIONS These samples are being collected to determine the lead and copper levels in your tap water. This sampling effort is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Connecticut. The program is being accomplished through the cooperation of homeowners and residents. Thank you for your participation. Please be sure to collect the sample and leave it on your front porch before 8:30 am on TH DAY MONTH ## In order to collect an accurate sample, please take a minute to read these instructions. There must be a minimum of 6 hours during which no water has been used from the tap where the sample is taken or any taps adjacent or close to that tap, however be sure to use a tap that has been in regular use. (Not an abandoned or infrequently used tap.) We suggest that early morning or evenings upon returning home are the best times to collect the sample to ensure the necessary minimum 6 hour stagnant water conditions exist. Please fill in the label on the bottle completely, using a ball point pen. Be sure to include: Name Address Date/time water last used Date /time collected Faucet- Kitchen Single family residence? (yes or no) Water treatment devices? (filters, softeners etc. – yes or no & explain) Recent Plumbing changes? (new faucet, pipes etc.-yes or no & explain) A kitchen COLD water faucet is to be used for the sampling. Do not remove the aerator prior to sampling. Place the opened sample bottle below the faucet and gently open the cold water tap, (Do not run any water to waste before collecting the sample) fill the bottle to the top, replace the cap and tighten. Leave the sample bottle outside your front door by 8:30 am on the above specified date and Aquarion personnel will pick it up between the times of 8:30am and 2:00pm.
