STATE OF MAINE UNIFIED CRIMINAL DOCKET YORK, SS DOCKET AFFIDAVIT OF DETECTIVE COREY PIKE IN SUPPORT OF PROBABLE CAUSE The facts and which lead yOur af?ant to believe there is probable cause to arrest are as follows: I, Corey Pike, am duly sworn as a Detective for the Maine State Police, Major Crimes Unit, with eighteen years of cumulative service with the Maine State Police as a Trooper and Detective. I am a graduate of the Maine State Police Academy. My primary responsibility as a Detective with the Maine State Police is the investigation of homicides, suSpicious deaths, and other serious crimes. The following facts and circumstances, communicated to me by other law enforcement investigators from the York Coonty Sheriff?s Department, and the Maine State Police, as well as, my own participation in the investigation, lead this afIiant to believe that there is probable cause to believe that on or about June 9, 2016, Bruce Akers (DOB 06931958) of 540 Ossipee Trail, Limington, Maine described as a white male, 5?10", 2001bs, did commit the crime of Murder M.R.S. section 201.1-A On or about June 9, 2016 BRUCE w. AKERS of 540 Ossipee Trail, Limington, Maine described as a white male, 5?10?, 2001bs., did commit the crime of Murder M.R.S. l7?A section 201 . 1 -A The basis for my probable cause is as follows: On June 9, 2016, BRUCE AKERS called the York County Sheriff?s Department to report he suspected his neighbor DOUGLAS FLINT had just stolen a six pack of alcoholic beverages from him. AKERS reported other things have gone missing and he believed was responsible. 1. . On June 10, 2016, at 11:27 am, the brother of DOUGLAS FLINT, Roy Flint, called the York County Sheriffs Department and reported that DOUGLAS FLINT was missing from his residence at 546 Ossipee Trail, Limington, Maine overnight and it seemed odd because he usually hears from him. Another family member went to LIN residence to check on him and the house was open and his cell phone was on a chair on the charger. brother reported the male that lived down back was odd and he did not want to go speak to him alone. On June 10, 2016 at 12:34 pm, DOUGLAS daughter, Amanda Flint, called the York County Sheriff 5 Department and reported she had last seen her father around 5:30 pm on June 9, 2016. FLINT was reportedly suicidal lately over the death of his wife. 4. The York County Sheriff?s Department issued a File 6, Missing Person for DOUGLAS FLINT. 5. York County Sheriffs Sgt. Steven Thistlewood and Deputy RObert Ca? met With family at his residence and were advised they were suspicious of the ?alghbor because of a history of disagreements, such as property disputes: between DOUGLAS FLINT and BRUCE AKERS. 6- Sgt- Thistlewood and Deputy Carr searched for FLINT on his property and did not locate him. 7. Sgt. Thistlewood and Deputy Carr went to BRUCE residence located at 540 Ossipee Trail which is located off of a shared dirt driveway with DOUGLAS residencel and attempted to locate him to speak with him and did not locate AKERS until several hours later. 8. Sgt. Thistlewood and Deputy Carr found AKERS in his camper residence. AKERS came outside and spoke to Sgt. Thistlewood and Deputy Carr. Sgt. Thistlewood asked AKERS if FLINT was still alive and AKERS shook his head 4? i 110 9. Sgt. Thistlewood asked AKERS if he could bring them to FLINT and AKERS said, can.? 10. AKERS made a Spontaneous statement, ?The guy just wouldn?t leave me alone.? ll. After AKERS made the above statements, Sgt. Thistlewood read AKERS his Miranda wamings. 12. Sgt. Thistlewood and Deputy Carr transported AKERS to the Limington Municipal Center and AKERS stated, actually would have called you guys right away but I wanted a few hours of enjoy it. I can?t say that I?ve enjoyed it that much.? 13. Sgt. Thistlewood noticed tape on AKERS right index ?nger. l4. Detective Larry Rose examined AKERS for injuries and he had a cut on his right index ?nger and scratches on his shins, a scratch on his back, a scratch on his right arm and right pectoral. Akers also had a red mark on his abdomen. AKERS had no other visible injuries. 15. Your af?ant obtained a Search Warrant for the residence and property of AKERS. 16. On June I I, 2016 at 0825 hours Detective Kristopher Kennedy interviewed Amanda Flint. Amanda is the daughter of DOUGLAS FLINT. Amanda last saw 1700 hours at his home in approximately 0 leaving her father?s home he her father on Thursday June 9, 2016 at Limington. According to Amanda just prior mentioned to her that he was looking for his missing 12 pack of beer. Amanda was familiar with BRUCE AKERS as being her father?s neighbor. Amanda told AKERS is a bit off and he creeps her out. In Detective Kennedy that she believes I i the past her parents had come home to ?nd AKERS bathing In their pool. Amanda also knew in the past that AKERS had entered her father?s house without permission. Amanda had instructe to allow AKERS around her her father never children due to his unusual behavror. ive Kennedy that her father and AKERS had luding but not to limited to AKERS trespassing and on her father?s property. 17. Amanda explained to Detect disagreements in the past inc also AKERS leaving scrap meta her?s home during the morning of Friday June 10, 2016. Amanda found her father?s cell phone and cigarettes at the house. Arnanda felt this was unusual for her father to leave without these items. Amanda checked her father?s cell phone and found he had missed calls starting at 1727 hours on Thursday June 9, 2016. 18. Amanda returned to her fat Abbe Chabot and her human remains 1 101] hours, Detective perty of AKERS. the deceased body of FLINT on the pro red with rotting deer carcasses. 19. At approximately detecting dog locate body had been cove 20. Rotting deer carcasses were also located in close proximity to AKERS camper he was living in. 21. AKERS body was examined at the scene and had numerous injuries to the neck. 22. A machete was located in AKERS camper which tested presumptive positive for blood. 23. On June 12, 2016 an autopsy was performed by the Of?ce of the Chief Medical Exammer on FLINT and his cause of death was determined to be severe and extensive blunt and sharp mjuries of the head and neck with almost total decapitation.
