Collect sample from bathroom sink. Zero free gas leading at well head. Water appeared cloudy and red brown in color. Water quantity appears adequate. Well was original drilled to approximately 185 feet. In 2007 well was cleaned out and drilled to a depth of 290 feet.Sample results indicated iron 3.532 mg/l and Manganese .098 mg/l. A non'deierrnination letter was mailed out on 11/16/2011 and a Determination letter was sent out on 12/02/2011 indicating that samples taken by the Department did not indicate that the complainant's water was affected by Oil and Gas drilling activities. Samples were collected on 10!] 911 for STA 942, and MethanefEthane analysis. The water I appeared reddish brown in color. A 0% free gas reading was obtained at the wellhead. The well was cleaned out in 2007 and drilled deeper, from a depth of approximately 135 feet to 290 feet. Lab results from 10f19h?11 indicated a detection for Methane (0.0179 mgfl). Out of-the other parameters tested for, only Iron (3.532 mgfl) indicated an elevated level. The nearest well (019-21747) is appx 3,305? away and is not yet completed. Determination The results of the laboratory analyses indicate that this water supply has not been in?uenced by nearb}r oil and gas activit?ji. The Department has ?nished its investigation concerning your complaint about the possible contamination of your water well. The results of samples taken by the Department did not showr any evidence that your water was affected by oil and gas drilling activities. Enclosed are the laboratory results of the water samples collected at your residence on October 19, 2011. They indicate that your Iron result is above the secondary drinking water standard. Secondary drinking water standards mainly deal with the aesthetic quality of your water. A fact sheet has been enclosed to help in the interpretation of your water analysis.
