All School Police Officers will be trained to the extent that they will be equipped to handle various situations that will arise while on duty. 1. New School Police Officers will receive all state mandated training. 2. All School Police Officers will receive Staff-Development training at least twice (2x) a year. PROCEDURE A. B. C. D. E. The Training Unit will maintain a central file with the original Department Training forms for all SPOs who have completed training. Copies of the original will be forwarded to: 1. The pertinent Commander. 2. The immediate Supervisor. 3. The School Police Officer. Training Unit Supervisors will document all training on Department Training forms. 1. Upon completion of training, Supervisor and SPO will have signed the Department Training form. When a Supervisor distributes training materials (i.e., Police Directives, Assist Officer, etc.) he/she is to document the information and a copy of the original will be given to the Training Unit. If a Supervisor other than the Training Unit Supervisor conducts training, he/she is responsible for documenting all such training on the Department Training form. He/she is then to forward the original form to the Training Unit to be filed. Copies of the original will be forwarded as specified in letter “A”. For any training received outside of the Philadelphia School District, a copy of the official certificate of training will be given to the pertinent Commander, the immediate Supervisor, and the Training Unit.
