MaryKay Newsletter developments and shaping policy outcomes is hard work and takes time. Considering these challenges and the multitude of issues, Mary Kay uses trade associations to stay up-todate on issues impacting the business. In fact, we work with nearly 100 trade associations globally and many of our Mary Kay colleagues not only regularly attend meetings and calls, but are leaders in their respective trade associations. Mary Kay’s Chief Legal Officer, Nathan Moore has shared some pointers on how we can better engage with the trade associations that inform our business decisions every day.     COSMETICS LEGISLATION At the end of 2015, the Mary Kay Public Affairs secured Congressman Pete Sessions as a sponsor of federal cosmetics legislation. In November 2015, Sessions’ introduced HR 4075, “The Safe Cosmetics Modernization Act.” This legislation will provide a national uniform standard for product safety and strengthen the oversight power of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration with respect to cosmetic products. In December 2015, Public Affairs also secured Congressman Bill Flores as a co-sponsor for the bill. Just this past month, local Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson also agreed to sponsor the bill as well. We are excited to have support from three Texas elected officials!   Public Affairs, partnering with Sales Force Communication team, corresponded with sales force members in Sessions’ and Flores’ districts to make them aware of the Congressmen’s important work being done on their behalf. Many of the sales force members reached out to their Congressman to personally thank them for their support of critical legislation that affects their ability to sell Mary Kay products. Throughout 2016, Public Affairs will continue to seek sponsors for this key legislation.   http://images.bipac.net/Files/marykay/newsletter/MaryKay-V3.html[7/25/2016 2:42:15 PM]   STAY CONNECTED:
