This refers to the complaint you filed with the US. Department of Education (Department)

Office for Civil Rights (OCR), against Temple University {the University). 


 

 

 

 

OCR enforces Titie IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. 1681, and its
implementing regulation, 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (Title IX). Title iX prohibits discrimination on the
basis of sex by recipients of Federal financial assistance. Because the University receives
Federal financial assistance from the Department, the University is subject to Title iX and its
implementing regulations.

We will investigate this allegation because OCR has jurisdiction and the allegation qualified for a
waiver of the 180-day filing requirement as you filed this same allegation within the 180-day
period with another civil rights agency. This waiver is granted because you filed your complaint
with another agency in a timely manner. Please note that investigating allegations in no way
implies that OCR has decided their merits. During the investigation, OCR is a neutral fact-
finder, collecting and analyzing relevant evidence from the complainant, the recipient, and other
sources. OCR will ensure that its investigation is legally sufficient and is dispositive of the
allegations, in accordance with the provisions of Article ill of the Case Processing Manual.
