OCR enforces Titie IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. 1681, and its implementing regulation, 34 C.F.R. Part 106 (Title IX). Title iX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex by recipients of Federal financial assistance. Because the University receives Federal financial assistance from the Department, the University is subject to Title iX and its implementing regulations. We will investigate this allegation because OCR has jurisdiction and the allegation qualified for a waiver of the 180-day filing requirement as you filed this same allegation within the 180-day period with another civil rights agency. This waiver is granted because you filed your complaint with another agency in a timely manner. Please note that investigating allegations in no way implies that OCR has decided their merits.
