l. The request for the Popular Name ?Combat Shadow 11" was approved for
use by the Department of the Air Force for the subject aircraft. This name will be
included in the next publication of DOD 4120.15-L.

2. A Popular Name, according to the joint service Air Force instruction Army
Regulation 70-50 2? Navy NAVAIRINST 13100.16 (reference paragraph 19. states.
?popular names characterize aerospace vehicle missions and aid communications and
media references.? Upon completion of the US Patent and Trademark Office search as
well as other searches by the Of?ce of the General Counsel of the Department of the Air
Force. coordination through the executive of?ces of the Air Force and the Of?ce of the
Assistant Secretary of Defense Public Affairs (OASD and approval by the Chiefof
Staff and Secretary of the Air Force, it was determined that the Popular Name of
"Combat Shadow 11" he used in association with the Mission Design Series (MUS) of
to identify this aircraft.
