MACDONALD * DANIEL J. BROWN ALBERT W. CORNACHIO III DANIEL T. MENTZER JILL K. SANDERS * FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 7, 2016 Chief Anthony Marraccini Resigns as Chief of the Harrison Police Department My office represents Chief Anthony Marraccini of the Harrison Police Department. Yesterday, October 6, 2016, effective immediately, Chief Marraccini retired from his position as Chief after serving the Harrison community honorably for 32 years. He began as a patrolman, working his way up to the highest position in the Harrison Police Department. Chief Marraccini has a stellar record, including commendations for his exceptional police work, and he’s helped many people during his tenure. One of his finest achievements is his work with the schools in Harrison to help keep children safe and away from drugs. Chief Marracini has turned the Harrison Police Department into a well-run and respected department that protects the Harrison community and its citizens. In his letter announcing his retirement, Chief Marraccini highlighted the incredible men and women with whom he has worked. He stated, “I have sincerely enjoyed serving the Harrison community and working for the Harrison Police Department. It has been a great privilege for me to work with the fine men and women of the Harrison Police Department in making our community a safer place where people can live, work, and thrive. I whole heartedly thank each of them for honorably serving with me these past 32 years.” Despite his high regard in the community and among other law enforcement professionals, Chief Marraccini has made the choice to retire as the result of an undeserved attack by politically motivated individuals in the Town/Village of Harrison. Chief Marraccini logged his hours and took time off exactly how he his predecessors did, keeping detailed records. Prior to his attaining the position of Chief of the Harrison Police Department, the timekeeping policies of the Harrison Police Department were thoroughly investigated during an internal audit and were found to be proper. That Chief Marraccini kept such meticulous records – records that have always been available for inspection by the members of the Board of the Town/Village of Harrison – demonstrates that he has nothing to hide. Chief Marraccini chose not to divulge the nature of these ludicrous accusations prior to now out of respect for the men and women of the Harrison Police Department. However, now that politically motivated individuals in the Town/Village of Harrison have released the details of their spurious charges to the press, Chief Marraccini wants to dispel the notion that he abused his position as Chief in any way. Chief Marraccini retired not because he has anything to hide; he retired yesterday only because of threats by the Town/Village of Harrison to take away the health benefits not only for him, but also PAPPALARDO & PAPPALARDO, LLP ATTORNEYS AT LAW those for his wife and five children. Any allegation of impropriety by Chief Marraccini is unfounded, and we feel that it is purely motivated by the political ambitions of certain persons who are willing to compromise the well-being and the safety of the citizens of Harrison. Chief Marraccini has been a great leader who led one of the strongest and best police forces in Westchester, and his retirement is a loss for the Harrison community. John D.
