at 957 NE Hogan m: regarding an assault. It was reported that a male was
assaulted. The suspect ran off northbound on NE Hogan Dr.

against his head. i noticed that had a small bleeding laceration
on the left side of his forehead and his left ear.

21- appeared to be intoxicated. 1 smelled a distinct oder of an
alcoholic beverage coming from breath/clothes. had

watery/glassy eyes and slurred speech.

_said Finkels with his triend, -
R-- and Eh were playing pool with two subjects they met
in the bar. 12-- described subject 1 as a white male adult in his 20's,
about 6'00", 2251b, wearing dark clothes. Subject 1 was later identified as
Russell Couttier photo. Subject 2 was a white male adult in
his 40's, also", about 225112.

and Courtier were having a discussion about their military branch.
R--was Exom the Navy and eourtier was a Marine _said that
they continued their discussion outside the bar. _stayed inside the
bar with subject 2.

 

Outside the Bar 32-- called Courtier a "fake Marine." Courtier was
holding an object in his hand which appeared to be a pool hall. 2--
Said that subject 2 Came out and tried CO mediate the situation. Courtier
got upset and hit in the head with the object. _said he
swung back at courtier but did not remember whether he made contact or not.

Courtier hit We head with the object several more times and
"knocked" him out. said he lost conscious for a brief moment.
mentioned that the incident happened tast therefore he did not
remember specific details. said he would be able to identify the
suspect if he was to see him again. rated his pain a six on a pain
scale of one to ten.

 

At this time I was informed that office: Mitchell located Courtier[suspect)
1 the Golf side apartments located at --Officer
Mitchell arrested Courticr and transported him to GPD.

 

wanted to pursue charges. I provided 1- with a victim's
information sheet and a case number. I advised ._to call the
district attorneys office within the next 24 hours to pursue charges. I
photographed injuries. was transported to Mount Hood
Medical Center.

 

I then spoke to 13- did not witness the incident. as 
be and were playing pool with the two subjects. R-- and one
Of the subjects were having a verbal dispute about their military branch.

_went to the bathroom for a hriet moment and found on the
ground outside the bar when he came out.

 

I contacted the bar employee, A- B_i did not witness the
incident. 3- was informed by a subject that was assaulted

copy of the surveillance video as soon as she acquires it.

I responded to GPD and contacted courtier. At 0302 hours. I read Courtier
his Miranda rights and asked him if he understood them. Courtier said

I smelled a distinct Oder OE an alcoholic beverage coming from Courtier's
breath/clothes. courtier had watery/glassy eyes. Courtier mention he had
five beers.

Courtier said he and war having a discussion about their military
branch. Courtier said that called him a "Marine punk" and swung at
him. Courtier did not remember whether actually made COHWCL

Courtier grabbed R-- and placed him on the ground. Courtier denied
punching

I asked Courtier to explained how 12- got his injuries. Courtier did
not know. I told Courtier that he was being accused of hitting in
the head with a pool hall. Courtier denied the allegations and said that it
was vise Verse. I noticed that Courtier did not have any visible injuries.
Courtier statements were inconsistent with nl'uries.

 

Courtier was later transported to MCDC. I later lodged the photographs at
GPD as evidence.

Action Recommended:

Clear by arrest.

 

 

Forward to the district attorney's Office for prosecution.
