A quarter of these children live in the 8 community districts where the child poverty rate is at least 50%. Over 252,000 children live in these high poverty districts. RENTS UP WHILE FAMILY INCOMES STAY DOWN The median income for families with children in 2015 was nearly $3,400 than in 2008. less In Queens, families with children still face a nearly $7,600 gap in income from where they were before the recession.
