Colonel Peter S. Rubin, United States Marine Corps Colonel Rubin received his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1990 and his law degree from the University of Missouri in 1993. He was commissioned in August 1992 after completing Marine Corps Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia. In 1995, following The Basic School and Naval Justice School, Colonel Rubin reported to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, California where he served in legal assistance, prosecution, and defense billets. In July 1998, Colonel Rubin reported for duty to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California where he served as the section head for the Legal Assistance and Civil Law sections, Military Justice Officer/Senior Trial Counsel, Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of California, and Executive Officer, Headquarters and Support Battalion. In 2001, Colonel Rubin was reassigned to the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command, Twentynine Palms, California, and served as the section head for the Installation Law Section, Senior Defense Counsel, Military Justice Officer, and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate. In May 2004, Colonel Rubin reported to the 4th Marine Expeditionary Brigade (AntiTerrorism) headquartered aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He served as the Staff Judge Advocate until February 2006. Colonel Rubin transferred to U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations Command (MARSOC) in February 2006 and served as the Staff Judge Advocate until June 2008. From June 2008 until June 2011, Colonel Rubin served as a Military Judge for the Western Judicial Circuit, Navy-Marine Corps Trial Judiciary, located at Camp Pendleton, California. In June 2011, Colonel Rubin assumed duties as the Regional Defense Counsel for the Pacific Region, Defense Services Organization. He was responsible for the delivery of defense services within the Western Pacific. In July of 2012 Colonel Rubin assumed duties as the Staff Judge Advocate for Marine Corps Installations Pacific/Marine Corps Base Camp S.D. Butler, headquartered in Okinawa, Japan. In June 2015, Colonel Rubin assumed his current duties at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina as the Circuit Military Judge for the Eastern Judicial Circuit, Navy-Marine Corps Trial Judiciary.
