I cannot overstate how im portant it is t hat the Federal Government immediately comply with the orders
if the Independent Human Rights Tribuna l to stop discriminating against Indigenous children through its
inadequate funding of the services they need. Canada's discriminatory policies have led to greater fa iled
and failing interventions into the lives of Indigenous families t han Residential Schools and serious
changes must be undertaken. The failures of Provincial child welfare systems combined with the failure
of the Federal government to recognize it's fiduciary responsibi lities were at the forefront of the Calls to
Action of the TRC.

Immediate action is required. I encourage members of the House to support the motion proposed by
Mem ber of Parliament Charles Angus.
