BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF New Beginnings Schools Foundation Board October 20, 2016, 5:30 Motion to relinquish the Gentilly Terrace Charter agreement and consolidate the school with Pierre Capdau at the Avery Alexander site. WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of New Beginnings Schools Foundation is currently authorized by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) to operate the following Type 5 charter schools through individual charter agreements: Gentilly Terrace Charter School, Pierre Capdau Charter School, Medard Nelson Charter School, and Lake Area New Tech New Early College High School and WHEREAS, consolidating Gentilly Terrace Charter School with Pierre Capdau Charter School will allow for maximized students bene?ting from a higher quality learning environment at the Avery Alexander site while supporting greater ?scal ef?ciency. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of New Beginnings Schools Foundation do hereby relinquish the charter agreement for Gentilly Terrace, site code 004, of Type 5 charter school to BESE for closure of the school at the conclusion of the 2016-17 school year; and BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that New Beginnings Schools Foundation shall make every effort in accordance with applicable state law and policy to ensure that students attending Gentilly Terrace shall be able to attend the new school building at the Avery Alexander site should they and their families choose to do so; and BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the Board of Directors of New Beginnings Schools Foundation shall ensure all necessary procedural, operational, facility, and ?nancial close-out actions are completed in accordance with all applicable laws and policies, and with timelines set by the Recovery School District and the Louisiana Department of Education.
